In October of 2021, Pat Patton and Julia Miller began deciding how best to give back to their community and who would be best served by these gifts. Moved by the heroic efforts of healthcare workers throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and inspired by the incredible care they have received from nurses over the years, they established the $10,000 Grace M. Patton and Gloria J. Haveman Nursing Scholarship. Named in honor of their mothers, the purpose of the scholarship is to be an incentive to beginning or completing an educational career path in nursing.

Last year the 2nd annual Patton and Haveman scholarship award was given to Kristen Andrew, a nursing student at the University of Cincinnati and team member at Hospice of Cincinnati. Pat and his daughter Corinne had the opportunity to meet Kristen Andrew recently and discuss the impact of this scholarship and her plans for her future. The next round of the Patton and Haveman Scholarship is currently accepting applications – due date is Wednesday, May 15, 2024. More information about this scholarship can be found here.
