TriHealth Bridge

October 04, 2023

As part of TriHealth's monthlong celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEI+B) team are spotlighting Hispanic team members, physicians and community partners who will share their personal stories.

Karina Rodriguez is a Bethesda North Emergency Department Staff RN. Family is very important to Karina - and as an RN in the Bethesda North Emergency Department, she treats each and every patient like her own!

"To me, Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to educate others about the culture and representation about where we come from. Because of my Puerto Rican heritage, I see the world differently. It has helped me learn that everyone grows up differently and interacts with others in different ways.

Learning about our heritage helps to break down bias that others may have. Something that is said to someone, that you think is as a joke can be disrespectful and hurtful. Family is very important in Hispanic culture and I believe that aspect can bleed into our work family here at TriHealth."

I so appreciate not only the diverse cultural information we are receiving through TriHealth but also the information we receive in regard to being a part of the activities of such important cultures. I'm so excited and curious about these new opportunities I am learning about. What a beautiful new journey we are taking together :-)
