The McCullough-Hyde Women’s Giving Circle is excited to announce that an inaugural grant has been awarded to the Talawanda School District. The $12,000 grant was made to support the district’s program to support families in need eliminate debt from unpaid breakfast and lunch costs.
The members of the McCullough-Hyde Women’s Giving Circle met in February to hear multiple presentations from organizations about programs benefiting women, children and families throughout the community. After evaluating the grant proposal presentations, the membership voted to award its first ever grant to Talawanda School District’s efforts to support children and families throughout the district, including those at each of the elementary schools, middle school and high school.
Food insecurity is one of the significant health needs identified in the Community Health Needs Assessment, published triennially by McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital/TriHealth. Providing school children a healthy breakfast and lunch, regardless of ability to pay, is essential to the child’s overall health.
The grant was announced at the Talawanda Board of Education meeting in March. Representatives from the McCullough-Hyde Women’s Giving Circle attended the meeting and presented the grant to the members of the Board of Education and administration. (Pictured Below)
