Effective immediately HeartCode BLS (basic life support) is assigned based on the certification card expiration date.
Current team members who have been completing HeartCode BLS in their birth month will continue to see the assignment in their birth month since their expiration date coincides with the end of their birth month. Some existing team members are “off schedule” with birth month assignments. These individuals will now be assigned to renew BLS in the month they last completed HeartCode BLS. This reduces confusion about renewal assignments.
New Team Members will see assignments for BLS based on the expiration date on their current card. HeartCode BLS will automatically be assigned 30 days prior to the team member’s card expiration date. A 30-day grace period for completion is still provided. A daily email reminder from Health Stream about the upcoming due date begins 2 weeks prior to the due date.
New team members who do not have previous BLS certification will be assigned to complete the HeartCode BLS program as part of their onboarding when BLS is required for their role. They will have 30 days + the 30-day grace period to complete the assignment.
If you renew outside of TriHealth, send a copy of your card to Corporate Clinical Education. TriHealth accepts American Heart Association BLS provider and RQI cards and American Red Cross Healthcare provider cards.
