Hi Team –
Signs of Spring and the start of the Easter season are in the air! Today we celebrate Mardi Gras and tomorrow is Ash Wednesday, which ushers in the 40-day season of Lent leading to Easter. As a faith-based, values-led organization united in the TriHealth Way of Leading, Serving, and Delivering Care, this time of reflection, service, sacrifice, and prayer offers all of us the opportunity, whether religious or not, to reflect on personal renewal and growth. And speaking of renewal and growth, here are this week’s latest milestones on our Journey to Get Healthcare Right:
Getting Healthcare Right

Cleveland Clinic Affiliation featured in Latest Getting Health Care Right Podcast
February is Heart Month, which is the perfect time to “tell our story” to patients and the community – including local business leaders – about how our affiliation with the Cleveland Clinic will transform cardiac care for our entire region in support of the Triple Aim... better care, better health, and better value!!
So, that’s exactly what we’re doing in this month’s Getting Health Care Right podcast with the Cincinnati Business Courier. This latest podcast features a conversation with Dr. Kathryn O’Keefe (Cardiac Surgeon and Medical Director of our LVAD Program), Mark Witte (Vice President, Clinical Service Lines), and Dr. Suma Thomas (Vice Chair, Operations and Strategy, Cleveland Clinic Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute). During the podcast, they discuss how the affiliation will further elevate TriHealth as THE preferred provider for cardiac care in Southwest Ohio. Click here to tune in and learn more about:

- How our TriHealth Way collaborative culture and focus on continuous quality improvement set TriHealth apart as the BEST and ONLY partner in Ohio for this one-of-a-kind affiliation with Cleveland Clinic.
- How our two organizations’ shared commitment to integrated, multi-disciplinary care, innovation, research, and use of evidence-based practices will help improve and enhance our TriHealth Heart and Vascular Institute (THVI) processes, clinical protocols, access to care, and ultimately, outcomes – all to benefit both our THVI physicians, and most importantly, our patients!
- How and why we are expanding our population health model to include specialty care as a seamless, fully integrated extension of our primary care network. This affiliation will support TriHealth in further expanding preventive cardiac care services – including, screenings, cardiac imaging, precision medicine, and genetic testing – all to proactively improve patient health and ensure the best possible clinical outcomes.
Thank a Resident Day, February 24
This Friday, February 24, is national “Thank a Resident Day.” And with the oldest and most well-established physician training program in the region – dating back to 1858 – we are especially excited to make the most of this special day of recognition and gratitude!! TriHealth’s Graduate Medical Education (GME) program has a long history of preparing the next generation of physicians for the increasingly complex and changing world of healthcare. And today, we offer a wide range of nationally recognized residencies and fellowships that attract over 130 TriHealth residents and fellows from across the nation (including TX, NY, FL, and CA) and around the world (from as far as England, Canada, and El Salvador) who bring passion, joy, diversity, and innovation to our important work of Getting Healthcare Right!
Our highly sought-out GME program offers residencies in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Vascular Surgery, OB/GYN, and Podiatry, as well as fellowships in Sports Medicine, Urogynecology, Mohs Surgery, and Minimally Invasive Surgery. Top physicians are drawn to the GME program’s rich history, our TriHealth Way culture, and the opportunity to learn from and work directly with our impressive faculty of primary care and specialty physicians. So, this week, be sure to thank a TriHealth resident or fellow – as well as our expert GME faculty – for all they do every day to train and become the next generation of physicians to Get Healthcare Right for our patients and community – today and always!
Black History Month

Last Thursday, our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion + Belonging (DEI+B) team hosted the first of our two Black History Month Physician Panels at Bethesda North, where participants had the opportunity to learn from a panel of our own TriHealth physicians (see picture to right) about how TriHealth is working to reduce, and ultimately eliminate, health disparities throughout our community.
Our many DEI+B initiatives, including these panels, are foundational to our work of eliminating health disparities by helping to build a more inclusive culture that fosters a sense of belonging, better understanding, and trust within our own team and across the entire community we serve.
The second physician panel discussion takes place this afternoon (2/21 from 3-4pm at Good Samaritan Hospital) and there is still time to reserve your seat! Both panel discussions are being recorded, so if you are unable to attend in person, be sure to check Bridge later this week to view the videotaped sessions.

Join us this afternoon from 12-1 on Bridge for our livestreamed February Team Member Town Hall (click here to download the agenda). We will celebrate system wins, review the latest progress in our work to Get Healthcare Right, and as always, answer your questions, with some great TriHealth prizes available to those who join the conversation! And, as we plan for our March Team Member Town Hall, we want to do so with your input! So, please share your thoughts with us in an email to TownHall@trihealth.com about the important topics, wins, and questions you’d like covered.
COVID Update

The encouraging trend of lower, more stable COVID case rates continues throughout the county and here at TriHealth, where we currently have just 19 COVID inpatients and one on a ventilator (see weekly COVID graphics to right for details). To provide some perspective on just how far we’ve come, last year at this time, we had 74 COVID inpatients, with 13 on ventilators!! So, we have a lot to be grateful for, and hopefully, this positive trend will only continue as we head toward Spring and warmer weather!!
We have so much to be thankful for at TriHealth, and at the top of that list is YOU, our incredible TriHealth Team! Thank you for all you do to help us be the best for our patients, our community, and each other...always!
