TriHealth Bridge

August 08, 2023

Hi Team –

While back-to-school preparations may be just around the corner, great weather and summer fun are far from over for our TriHealth Team!

Our TriHealth Team Member, Physician, and Volunteer Celebration at Kings Island and Soak City is just three weeks away (Sunday, August 27) – and we want as many of our TriHealth Team as possible to join in the fun!!

So, if you haven’t ordered your two FREE tickets yet, be sure to do so by Tuesday, August 15 on the TriHealth online ticket ordering site. To place your order, you’ll need to provide your unique gift code emailed to you on August 1 from the Totally Appreciated inbox. If for some reason you did not receive the email with your gift code, or if you are having difficulty with your tickets, just contact our team at TotallyAppreciated@trihealth.com and someone will be happy to assist you.

And remember, you can also order up to four additional tickets heavily subsidized by TriHealth (costing just $20 each vs. the $48 full ticket price) to make it a great day for the whole family! More than 10,000 tickets have already been claimed by TriHealth team members, so it’s shaping up to be another memorable day of thrills, food, fun, and special memories – all to show our appreciation for you, our incredible TriHealth Team!

And there are still opportunities for you to volunteer to help out at the 35th Annual Black Family Reunion presented by TriHealth on August 18 – 20, 2023 – or just plan to come to enjoy all the great community activities and celebrations! As the title sponsor, TriHealth will be actively involved in all aspects of this three-day event. Our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion + Belonging (DEI+B) team, together with our Corporate Health, and Talent Acquisition teams will be on-site to provide our community with health screenings, information about TriHealth employment opportunities, and vital health education materials. Visit Bridge to learn more about ways in which you can help us connect with our community during what is an important Cincinnati tradition and really fun event.

Getting Healthcare Right
Newest TriHealth Free Food Pantry Opens at Good Sam Free Health Center
Social determinants of health (SDOH), like food insecurity or lack of transportation, which are often driven by economic instability, are major causes of health disparities in our region and across our nation. So, as part of our vision to Get Healthcare Right and deliver equitable care to all, TriHealth is proactively addressing these social determinants of health in many ways, including through community partnerships.

Last week, I was joined by Rev. Frank Nation, Linda Smith-Berry and the entire team at the Good Samaritan Free Health Center for a blessing and ceremonial ribbon cutting to open our fourth free food pantry in collaboration with the Freestore Foodbank!

Like our free food pantries at Good Sam Hospital (opened September 2022), Bethesda North Hospital (opened March 2023), and the Bethesda Family Practice Center (opened May 2023), the Free Health Center food pantry provides our patients the opportunity to shop for shelf-stable, refrigerated, and frozen food staples for themselves and their families at no charge, and as often as needed!

Since opening our first free food pantry last September, TriHealth has already provided more than 50,000 pounds of food to our patients and their families – and food really is the new medicine! Addressing SDOH is vital for improving the health of the community we serve – and this is what Getting Healthcare Right is all about!

TriHealth Nationally Recognized for High-Quality Stroke and Heart Care
Just a month into our new fiscal year, and TriHealth’s reputation as THE regional leader and national model for Getting Healthcare Right continues to grow! As the latest proof points, the American Heart Association (AHA) recently recognized TriHealth hospitals with the following 2023 “Get with the Guidelines” Awards for Stroke, Heart Failure and Type 2 Diabetes:
  • Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award for Stroke – Good Samaritan and Bethesda North hospitals
  • Silver Plus Quality Achievement Award for Stroke – Bethesda Butler and McCullough-Hyde Memorial hospitals
  • Silver Plus Quality Achievement Award for Heart Failure – Bethesda North Hospital
  • Silver Quality Achievement Award for Heart Failure – Good Samaritan Hospital
Good Sam, Bethesda North, and Bethesda Butler hospitals were also recognized on the Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll for our commitment to ensuring patients with Type 2 diabetes receive the most up-to-date, evidence-based care when hospitalized with a stroke or heart failure.

These awards recognize TriHealth hospitals’ shared commitment to ensuring our stroke and heart failure patients receive the most appropriate treatment, consistent with nationally recognized research-based guidelines, which ultimately results in better care, improved clinical outcomes, better health, and saved lives!! Congratulations to ALL of our TriHealth hospital physicians and team members who made these extraordinary achievements possible – just one more shining indicator that we are, without a doubt, Getting Healthcare RIGHT!!

TriHealth Rehabilitation Hospital Named Among the Best Rehab Hospitals In the Nation
Last week, I shared the exciting news that both Bethesda North and Good Sam hospitals were named among the city and state’s Best Hospitals by US News & World Report. Well, I’m pleased to share that US News & World Report has also named our TriHealth Rehabilitation Hospital as one of the 100 Best Hospitals in the country for rehabilitation, coming in at #46!! This ranking not only reflects the high-quality and safety standards practiced at our TriHealth Rehab Hospital, it also recognizes the unique ability of our team members and clinicians to deliver “surprisingly human care” to patients recovering from catastrophic injuries and illnesses – helping them regain optimal function, independence, and quality of life. Congratulations to all on this well-deserved national recognition!
