For more than eight decades, the Ruth Lyons Children’s Fund has been taking care of children around the tri-state. On November 17, which is also World Prematurity Day, WLWT covered the Good Samaritan Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), talking about the tiniest of lives that have been touched by the gift of the fund. Every child born in the NICU gets a hand-made quilt made by GSH volunteers and a Ruth Lyons embroidered sleep sack, and mothers receive books and a journal to document the early days of their newborn. The Fund also supports gifts and comfort items for celebrating holidays year round, including Christmas, Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and more.
A check was presented to the NICU totaling $40,000. The NICU has received annual support from the Ruth Lyons Children’s Fund for more than 30 years.
