On Monday, April 25, 2022, locally based writer, speaker and educator Paul Wesselmann returned to Good Sam College of Nursing & Health Science for his second speaking engagement. Paul brought his signature brand of emotional intelligence, inspiration and practical tips on deepening personal and professional effectiveness and enjoyment of work and life.

Paul holds degrees in psychology and higher education, is the author of two books and his inspirational emails ripple out to 30,000 subscribers weekly. He works with planning teams to highly customize content to be useful and relevant to provide value to everyone and enable bringing our best selves to work, school and life.

In addition to his innate gift of storytelling, Paul shared with the GSC group an unforgettable poem from the Rev. Anna Blaedel, entitled Darling One. As the world continues to work to heal from the pandemic and negotiates the chaos of war in Eastern Europe, GSC shares with you this beautiful moment of respite. Please take a moment to absorb Rev. Blaedel’s poem and allow the words to find you where you are – HERE . . . and NOW.

darling one –
you precious mess –
you exhausted, grieving, hollowed,
hallowed, hallelujah of a human –
today, if even for a moment, may you feel;
your own courageous beating heart
your chest rising and failing with breath
which is spirit
which is lifeforce
keeping pulse
marking time
finding space –
regardless of how you are feeling
no matter what you are capable of
or not –
and, for just a moment
may you find rest
a bit of ease, held
in that sacred rhythm
that cannot be
without you
because you, you precious mess,
have breath and heart and lifeforce
pulsing through you, yet.
