TriHealth Bridge

May 11, 2022

On May 30th, join us in honor of Memorial Day to remember those who have died in service of this nation. Memorial Day, originally known as Decoration Day, is an American holiday that is observed annually on the last Monday of May. We would like to invite all team members to pause and reflect on the significance of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Many people pause and reflect on Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries where veterans lie, memorials, or museums.

At TriHealth, we strive to serve and honor those in the community who have given their lives to protect the wellbeing of others. The TriHealth Armed Forces Group and Supporters (TAGS) is volunteering at the Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery on Monday, May 30th from 9:30-11:00 a.m. Volunteers will assist with parking and escorting the elderly to their seats. Additionally, a flag folding ceremony will be performed at Hospice of Cincinnati Blue Ash on Thursday, May 26th at 1 p.m. by the flagpole.

TAGS encourage team members to dispose of their worn-out flags. The U.S. Flag Code says, “the flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.” To assist with this, flag disposal boxes will be located at Hospice of Cincinnati Blue Ash, Good Samaritan Hospital, Bethesda North Hospital, McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital, and Bethesda Butler Hospital starting on Armed Forces Day, May 21st through Flag Day, June 14th.

TAGS aim to support veterans of all branches within the armed forces. Members may be veterans, Reserve or National Guard members, family members of a veteran or simply an individual who desires to support team members. Contact TAGS at diversity@trihealth.com or click here to learn more about TAGS.
