TriHealth Bridge

May 17, 2022

Ensuring our patients receive the safest and highest quality care is TriHealth's top priority. And as we continue to advance on our journey to become a High Reliability Organization, four TriHealth hospitals have been recognized for our leading efforts toward patient and team member safety.

Bethesda Butler, Bethesda North, Good Samaritan and McCullough-Hyde Hospital were each awarded "A" safety grades - the highest rating possible - for their efforts in protecting patients from harm and meeting the nation’s highest safety standards, according to the newly released Spring 2022 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades. These impressive accomplishments are even more remarkable considering they were achieved during the height of the fourth wave of the COVID pandemic! Good Samaritan Hospital at Evendale did not have enough publicly reported data to generate a Safety Grade. As a system, TriHealth once again received the most "A" grades in Cincinnati, outpacing other local healthcare systems.

The Leapfrog Group, a Washington D.C-based organization aiming to improve healthcare quality and safety for consumers and purchasers, awarded these two hospitals with "A" grades based on their performance in preventing medical errors, infections and other harms among patients in their care. The Safety Grade assigns an A, B, C, D or F grade to hospitals across the country based on their performance in preventing medical errors, infections and other harms among patients in their care. Nationally, only 30% of all hospitals achieve "A" ratings. TriHealth hospitals consistently earn “A” safety grades from Leapfrog, continuing as a local leader for hospital safety.

Developed under the guidance of an Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses up to 30 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to approximately 3,000 U.S. hospitals twice per year. It is peer reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.
