February 02, 2022
For many in Asian cultures, a new year has begun! On February 1, 2022, the Lunar New Year celebrations kicked off the Year of the water tiger.
In Asian cultures, the tiger – not the lion – is the king of the jungle. People born during a Tiger Year are thought to be natural leaders who are brave, competitive, confident, and thrill-seeking. The tiger is commonly associated with bravery, courage, and strength. The tiger is known to be king of all beasts in China and comes third in the Chinese zodiac. The tiger’s positive qualities include being kind, adventurous and enthusiastic.
The Lunar New Year is marked by a 15-day celebration of family gatherings, feasts with traditional Lunar New Year foods and ends with the Festival of Lanterns.
