This year we celebrate four national recognition weeks October 17 – 23: Health System Pharmacy Week, Medical Assistants Week, Infection Prevention Week and Healthcare Quality Week. We want to acknowledge the hard work of each of these teams over the last year, as all play a vital role in The TriHealth Way of Delivering Care and our commitment to Getting Healthcare Right. Our pharmacy team members are a vital part of the patient care team, working with physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, dietitians, social workers, case workers and others to ensure that the medications prescribed to patients are the correct ones, given in the correct doses at the proper times. The service and clinical expertise of our pharmacy team members ensure that patients receive safe and effective medications, helping us provide the safest, most reliable care possible to all our patients.
Medical assistants across the country are recognized and honored during National Medical Assistants Week. Medical assistants are important members of our healthcare team, working in both administrative and clinical functions. They are versatile and a vital part of serving our patients and the community. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, medical assisting is one of the fast-growing occupations. In ambulatory and hospital settings, the dedicated service and clinical skills of our Medical Assistants ensure we deliver safe, reliable care.
International Infection Prevention Week (IIPW) was established in 1986 and aims to shine a light on infection prevention each and every year. Infection preventionists (IPs) play a crucial role in keeping us as team members, our patients and the community safe and healthy. In addition to playing a key role throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, our infection prevention team helps protect us from surges in other healthcare-associated infections, flu season and so many other day-to-day infectious battles.
Our team members in Quality are guiding our work as we continue our journey to become a High Reliability Organization (HRO), leading the way to zero incidents of preventable harm across TriHealth. Healthcare quality and patient safety are deeply connected and are central in our efforts to provide safe, effective, patient-centered, equitable and efficient care to all our patients.
Now more than ever, the work of each of these teams could not be more critical! Each of these teams helps us provide truly exceptional care and we are grateful for all that they do in helping us serve our community.
