At TriHealth, we have an extremely talented pool of nurses and nursing leaders and a new role has been created as a key part of the nursing leadership team - Assistant Chief Nursing Officer (ACNO). Stacy Kelly has been promoted into the role of ACNO for Bethesda North Hospital and Sarah Barwell into the role of ACNO for Good Samaritan Hospital.
Stacy Kelly, MSN RN CNML, has been the Director of Critical Care, Bethesda North Emergency Department, Clinical Decision Unit and Telemetry since 2018. She has been a part of TriHealth since July 2000 and has been on a progressive leadership track since then. She has led multiple improvement initiatives throughout her career, including efforts to improve hand hygiene, the design of Clabsi/Cauti bundles to decrease harm, implementation of our throughput efforts, design of the 14-bed Telemetry unit, relocation of the MSICU and design of innovative COVID staffing models. At TriHealth, she is a member of the TRIBE and PRISM Employee Resource Groups, is a TriHealth Ethics committee member and chair of the Meredith Schreiner and Barry Willison Scholarship Fund, amongst others. Outside of TriHealth, Stacy is a member of the American Organization for Nursing Leadership and she was recently named to the newest class of the African American Leadership Development Program (AALDP) through the Urban League of Greater Southwestern Ohio. Stacy is currently enrolled in her Doctor of Nursing Practice through Mount Saint Joseph University.
Sarah Barwell, MBA, BSN, RN, OCN, has been the Medical-Surgical Nursing, Staffing Office, and Float Pool Director at Good Samaritan Hospital since August 2020. She has been a part of TriHealth for the majority of her nursing career since graduating from Good Samaritan College of Nursing and Health Science in 2000. Sarah started as a staff nurse on 14CD at Good Samaritan Hospital and spent the next 20 years in oncology. She served in a number of leadership roles within the TriHealth Cancer Institute and played a major role in building the nursing structure, growing the support services team, and quality and accreditation efforts. She is a co-chair of Nursing Leadership Council, chair of the Falls Steering Committee and co-chair of the PCA retention initiative. Sarah’s passion is the team at Good Samaritan Hospital and continuing to honor the 169 year-legacy of care provided to our patients and community every day.
Stacy and Sarah have been an integral part of the nursing leadership team and will continue their incredible work in their new, expanded roles. A selection process will begin in the future for their director positions.
Please congratulate Stacy and Sarah as they transition into these important new nursing leadership roles!
