Our community is made up of people with diverse faiths and traditions. At TriHealth, our mission and values call us to uphold our spiritual heritage as well as respect the spiritual heritage of others and appreciate all people.
As we SERVE our patients and their families, we welcome their beliefs and help celebrate observances.
Between November 28 and December 6, 2021, those of the Jewish faith will be observing Hanukkah, an eight-day celebration that commemorates the rededication of the Second Temple in Jerusalem. In the second century BCE, Jews revolted against their Greek-Syrian oppressors in the Maccabean Revolt to free themselves to observe their faith.
Often called the Festival of Lights, the holiday is celebrated with the lighting of the menorah, gifts, games, and traditional foods, like latkes (fried potato pancakes) and sweet jelly doughnuts.
Celebrating Hanukkah In Cincinnati
There are many ways to celebrate Hanukkah. This year, the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati will be hosting the following events and activities:
- Hanukkah at Fountain Square: An outdoor menorah lighting, ice skating, and bumper cars on Fountain Square to celebrate the end of Hanukkah
- Hanukkah Live Puppet Show: The Hidden Latke: A live performance of The Hidden Latke, performed by Astoria, Queens' WonderSparks Puppet Company
