TriHealth orthopedic surgeon Dr. Thomas Shockley, Jr., was recognized at the Abercrumbie Group's "Real Men of Honor: A Salute to African American Men" program for his outstanding contributions to the field of medicine and his support of the Greater Cincinnati community. 

The prestigious annual awards program honored Dr. Shockley and four other leaders for their commitment to making a difference in the community and for inspiring change. 

Dr. Shockley is actively involved in promoting health and fitness across Greater Cincinnati. He has been involved with a variety of youth sports teams and community organizations, and currently serves as the team physician for Finneytown High School. He also hosts health and wellness radio programs to educate listeners on a variety of healthcare topics. 

An Honors Graduate of Morehouse College, Dr. Shockley received his fellowship training at the Atlanta Sports Medicine Center. He also attended Meharry Medical College and Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he was one of two African American pioneers to complete the Vanderbilt University Orthopedic Surgery Program. Dr. Shockley is a member of several medical societies, including the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and was voted a Top Doc by Cincinnati Magazine.
