TriHealth Bridge

March 09, 2021

TriHealth – the Cincinnati region’s nationally recognized integrated health system made up of six hospitals and more than 140 sites of care – is investing $140 million in significant additions and renovations to Good Samaritan Hospital over the next five years.

The Master Facility Plan includes the creation of a cutting-edge surgery facility, construction of a new five-story building equating to 168,000 square feet, and the demolition of the current team member parking garage; neighboring Hebrew Union Dormitory will also be demolished and become the site of the new team member parking garage. It also allows for future opportunities to enhance and relocate the Emergency Department, radiology, labs and other departments. This project will advance the vision of Good Samaritan Hospital and further solidify it as a destination for comprehensive care throughout the region, including for our West Side community.

These renovations will enhance our nationally recognized Good Sam service lines, including neurosciences, cancer, women’s health and advanced surgery. Within those service lines includes orthopedics and bariatric surgeries, gastrointestinal treatments, the Comprehensive Stroke Center, Brain Tumor Center of Excellence, head and neck surgeries, and cancer treatment options using the regional multidisciplinary care model. Plus, the region’s largest network of gynecological experts will continue to provide comprehensive care through high risk obstetrics programs, the Level III NICU and Fetal Care Center.

Structural improvements will also allow for better navigation throughout the hospital campus, elevating patient care and visitor experience at every turn. Renovations will continue to reorient the main entrance and primary access to the Good Sam Campus from Clifton Ave to Dixmyth/MLK with improved access to I-75.

Phase I of the project will start this spring with the demolition of the Hebrew Union Dormitory, which was acquired by TriHealth in anticipation of this project, to make room for the new parking garage. Phase II includes construction of a new five-story building to house all perioperative functions, as well as several floors of unfinished space for eventual relocation of the Emergency Department and Outpatient services.

Good Samaritan Hospital has a long history of care in our region, serving as the West Side’s most trusted hospital for more than a century. TriHealth is committed to providing excellent patient care for many years to come.

TriHealth recently unveiled the expanded Good Samaritan Western Ridge campus in December, tripling in size and service just 10 years after the initial opening. On February 25, TriHealth also broke ground on the new TriHealth Heart Hospital on Bethesda North’s campus. These innovative projects across the region show TriHealth’s dedication to deliver the best care to patients and families in the Greater Cincinnati area.

This will be an excellent improvement to the Good Samaritan campus and help us more fully embody our mission to improve the health status of the people we serve. It also will honor the legacy of the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati in extending the healing ministry of Jesus.
