If you have been through the halls of Good Samaritan, chances are you have been positively impacted by the leadership and career of Mary Rafferty. TriHealth and Good Samaritan Hospital celebrate Mary Rafferty, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Good Samaritan Foundation for more than 20 years. In her tenure at Good Samaritan Foundation, Mary has led her team to raise over $78 million to benefit Good Samaritan Hospital, Good Samaritan College of Nursing and Health Science, Good Samaritan Free Health Center, and other TriHealth entities.
Her leadership in philanthropy has many highlights, most notably her work on major fundraising campaigns. Funding from capital campaigns renovated many areas throughout Good Samaritan including the Emergency Department, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, the Chapel of the Sacred Heart, Cardiovascular ICU, the Radiation Oncology and Infusion Center, along with many others. In 2006, the Compassionate Care Multiplied Campaign raised $9.5 million for Cardiac Services, Good Samaritan College, Medical Education and Research, and Parish Nurse Ministry. Mary’s leadership has also secured funding to acquire the first da Vinci Surgical System in Greater Cincinnati, as well as establish the Outpatient Cancer Care Unit, Employee Fitness Center, and the Good Samaritan Free Health Center which is fully funded by philanthropic dollars. Most recently Mary and her team secured funding for the new OB/GYN Center on the Good Samaritan Campus.
Under Mary’s leadership, the Foundation's assets have grown tremendously from $7.1 million to $77.1 million.
If you were to ask Mary what is most important about her work, she would tell you that it is not just the dollar amount raised but the impact those dollars have on people. Mary’s goal has always been to improve the lives of the people we serve both within our walls and out in our community.
