TriHealth Bridge

Stroke is the fifth leading cause of death and the number one cause of disability in the United States and here in Cincinnati. Even with these statistics, public awareness of the signs and symptoms of stroke is lacking. At TriHealth, all our stroke certified hospitals want to lead in stroke public awareness within our organization and in the community. This starts with our own team members and volunteers being provided this education.

As a part of our stroke certification requirements from the Joint Commission, all team members and volunteers are to complete a yearly education on the warning signs and symptoms of stroke. Our patients, family members and the community will benefit from this training because a stroke can happen to a patient in the hospital, a hospital visitor or one of our own family members. By knowing the signs and symptoms of stroke, we can act quickly in our own personal lives to get the person to the quickest treatment and life-saving care.

The deadline to complete the stroke certification is September 1, 2021. Click here to access this course in TriHealth Learn

I will employ BEFAST principles to ensure that I am aware and can intervene if I observe signs of a patient or visitor experiencing stroke symptoms.
