TriHealth Bridge

December 22, 2020

On December 22, TriHealth received our first shipment of Moderna COVID-19 vaccines delivered to both Good Samaritan & Bethesda North Hospitals! We received approximately 3700 doses in our first shipment, which will allow us to vaccinate 3700 TriHealth team members, physicians and other providers. We’ve been assured by the CDC that we can safely administer our entire supply immediately and that we’ll receive regular shipments going forward to provide each recipient with the vital second dose within the required 28-31 day time period.

Within hours of receiving the shipments, our first team members have been vaccinated!

Before administering the vaccinations, the shipments were blessed by chaplains from each site, Austin Schafer and Chad Quick, and our Vice President of Mission & Culture Frank Nation.

Thanks to tireless efforts of our vaccine planning committee, led by Dr. Kevin Joseph, Dr. Steve Blatt, Amy Cobb, and Terri Hanlon, TriHealth is prepared and excited to begin this process to keep our team members healthy and safe.

TriHealth is following the recommended CDC guidance to provide vaccines first to the most vulnerable populations, and at TriHealth that is our frontline team members and physicians. All other groups of team members will follow as vaccine supplies become available. A carefully designed qualification, prioritization and scheduling process was developed earlier this month with the assistance of system clinical leadership, and vaccines will begin to be administered today according to the prioritization groups identified below:

Prioritization Groups

1.) Direct care workers with high CV19 patient contact

Example: TM caring for patients in the ICU or CV19 units

2.) All others who are in direct care of patients

Example: all nurses, respiratory, technicians, therapists, etc.

3.) All other workers who occasionally interact with patients and work inside care setting

                Example: facility operations, etc.

4.) Everyone else working in the direct healthcare environment, hospitals & clinics

Example: hospital exec assistants, medical records, etc.

5.) Support services who occasionally interact with patients

Example: administration who rounds on team members and patients

6.) Remainder of TriHealth

Be sure to monitor your email for instructions to sign up for and schedule your vaccination. All vaccine appointments must be scheduled in advance and no walk-ins can be accommodated at any location. While getting the vaccine is strongly encouraged, it is not mandatory at this time.

Thank you to all of our team members for everything you have done for our patients, fellow team members throughout this year and always!
