OGB has been around since 2002. It serves children in the Sycamore School District and the Elementary Schools in Sharonville. Work with the local police departments, school counselors and school nurses who make referrals of families/children who need support.
Not only do they provide gifts of clothing and toys at Christmas, OGB operates a year round food pantry and services 300 families/month. This year the need has increased dramatically. OGB also offers after school mentoring and tutoring and provides back to school supplies each August.
This year, they estimate they will provide gifts to 750 children and families, up from 475 last year.
They service children between newborn and 18.
This year, people are calling them from outside the Sycamore area looking for help.
One mom who used to donate to OGB, lost her job due to COVID cutbacks and is now a recipient of OGB’s help. “This was a hard call for her to make,” Sheila Lichtenberg, Ex. Director of OGB remarked. “She went from giving to us or asking us for help so she can provide Christmas gifts for her kids.”
