A dedicated group of TriHealth team members across multiple departments are dedicated to ensuring that our hospital teams, our buildings and our emergency plans are properly prepared and equipped for emergency situations. As September is National Preparedness Month, it provides us the opportunity to highlight some of the resources available to you on Bridge and encourage you to review your individual emergency plan.
It is critical that you and your family be prepared at home for emergencies and disasters. It is also important to share those plans and your contact information with your family and friends to avoid confusion in the event of an emergency.
The Emergency Management (EM) Webpage has many resources outlined for you. Here are a few that are important:
Emergency Management County Agencies: Sign up for your county emergency alerts....you can also sign up for the county you work in. For example: Hamilton County EMA includes SMART 911 - https://www.hamiltoncountyohioema.org/. The Webpage also lists Butler and Warren County EMA.
Red Cross App – for your phone – with the Red Cross App you can add family in other locations and receive alerts for their locations. It also has open shelters listed - https://www.redcross.org/get-help/how-to-prepare-for-emergencies/mobile-apps.html
FEMA App – for your phone – this app also lets you add family members and customize the alerts you receive - https://www.fema.gov/mobile-app
To be prepared for many different types of emergencies please go to https://www.ready.gov/september. This site includes family and individual preparedness, how to prepare on a budget, other publications and videos.
Last but not least, there are other websites that have healthcare specific information, such as Healthcare Ready - https://www.healthcareready.org/ which lists open Pharmacies during a disaster and other great information.
For more information or questions please email – Kay Vonderschmidt at kay_vonderschmidt@TriHealth.com or Emer_Mgt@TriHealth.com or visit our webpage under Departments on TriHealth Bridge.
