Hi Team!

Happy New Year!! It’s hard to believe, but today marks the start of the first week of fiscal year 2020 (FY20) – Year 4 of our Journey from Good to Great! We’re heading into the New Year with a shared sense of pride in all we’ve accomplished together in fiscal year 2019 (FY19), and a renewed commitment to make “ALWAYS OUR BEST!” our rallying cry and call to action in the year ahead as we strive to get healthcare right for every individual we serve! Following is a recap of our very productive final month and close out of FY19:

June Team Member Forums Break Attendance Records!
Thank you for making our summer series of Team Member Forums among the most energetic and best attended yet! Not only did we have a lot of fun, we also had the opportunity to share our collective thoughts about where we’ve been, how we’re doing and what’s ahead on our journey to move TriHealth from good to great! We’ll be providing a summary of Team Member Forum feedback, along with FAQs, on our new intranet--TriHealth Bridge--shortly, so be sure to check it out. And speaking of the TriHealth Bridge...

Launched New TriHealth Intranet – “The Bridge.”  TriHealth Bridge – our enhanced intranet that replaced “LinkNet” – went live this month, offering users a fresh look, fast Google-like search capabilities, new navigation tools and information resources – and the ability to access it from both work and home through your personal laptop or smart device. While getting used to any new online tool can take time, we’re pleased to hear that many of you are already enjoying some of the improvements:

“Love the new search functionality, much needed upgrade!” – Ryan D.

“I just started working for TriHealth in January, and was quickly frustrated with our TriHealth search engine and the time I wasted trying to use it, so I stopped trying to search for anything. I am REALLY happy that management decided to spend the time and money to create a better employee tool. Thank you very much!” – Amy P.

Team Member Engagement Survey Achieves Record Participation Level! June 23 marked the last day to complete our Annual Engagement Survey, and I’m pleased to share, we achieved a 90% team member participation rate – the highest participation ever!! With such an encouraging response, we can feel confident that the results will give us a very clear and accurate assessment of where you feel we’re doing well and where we can improve in the year ahead. Results are being tabulated by Press Ganey now, and we’ll be ready to cascade the findings and planned actions later this summer, so stay tuned!

TriHealth Leads the Region in Committing to a Living Wage! In June, we announced our decision to increase the TriHealth minimum wage to $14 per hour in two steps over the next 18 months, which we know is more reflective of a living wage. By doing so, TriHealth’s minimum wage will be 60% higher than the current State of Ohio minimum wage of $8.55, making TriHealth the only health system in the region to make this commitment! Our hope is that others will follow our lead for the betterment of our community. And this decision and our hope that others will follow our lead was reported broadly in the Cincinnati Business Courier’s coverage of the announcement (click here to read the article).

TriHealth Teams and Progress Celebrated During Safety Awareness Month. June was “National Safety Awareness Month," and TriHealth made the most of this opportunity to recognize and celebrate our encouraging progress and meaningful achievements over the past year, which was Year 1 of our safety and quality journey to “Lead the Way to Zero Harm.” Through award ceremonies, team celebrations and fun activities across our TriHealth sites, we expressed deep appreciation to all of our leaders, providers, and team members for their dedication, discipline, and hard work to bring the safest, highest quality care to every patient, ALWAYS! Because of your efforts, we are saving lives – now Top 5th %tile in U.S. for risk adjusted mortality – improving health, and becoming an industry benchmark and model for world-class safety and quality practices – WAY TO GO!!!

Looking Ahead…Your leaders will kick off FY20 with our 13th Leadership Development Institute (LDI) on July 9 & 10. Our quarterly LDIs are building the foundation necessary to fulfill our promise to “get healthcare right” for all those we serve. And thanks to your leaders’ active involvement they are bringing the TriHealth Way to life in aligning our work, engaging our team members, and improving the quality and safety of our care. You will hear more about our next LDI, titled “Mastering Change, Leading with Agility,” in our next Weekly Update.

Thank you for making FY19 another year of continued learning, solid growth, and major achievements in support of our promise to deliver better care, better health, and better value to our community and every patient we serve! Together, We ARE Making TriHealth THE Best Place to Work, to Practice, and to Receive Care! I am excited and confident about the year ahead, and look forward to working side by side with you as we make “ALWAYS OUR BEST”-- simply the way we serve our patients and community—the TriHealth Way--in FY20 and beyond!!

I hope you and your family have a safe and wonderful Fourth of July Holiday!
