TriHealth will place two thriving medical practices in a new development adjacent to the Xavier University campus to help meet a growing demand for quality care within our system's expanding patient base.
Bethesda Family Practice and Queen City Physicians offices will move into University Station, a mixed-use development at Montgomery Road and Cleneay Avenue. The two practices are expected to open there in August before the start of the new school year.
"This project continues and expands our long-standing commitment to making primary care physicians accessible to residents in central Cincinnati," said John Prout, president and CEO.
"By adding Queen City Physicians and relocating Bethesda Family Practice from its location in Norwood, we are creating a healthcare hub in an ideal location that truly enhances the care we provide in this community."
University Station straddles the cities of Cincinnati and Norwood and is located on a 20-acre site. Messer Construction and Ackermann Group are developing the site.
The development includes a 43,000-square-foot medical office building, of which the TriHealth project would comprise approximately 17,000 square feet on the first floor. There are expected to be three practitioners in the Queen City practice and 29 practitioners at Bethesda Family Practice with room for expansion as the need arises.
"Opening an additional Queen City Physicians office at this site will allow us to expand our capacity for patients from the Xavier community - faculty, staff and students," said G. Stephen Cleves MD, a physician with Queen City Physicians. "Our current location (2753 Erie Ave.) in Hyde Park has no room to expand, so the opportunity to move closer to campus was appealing to us."
Bethesda Family Medicine, currently located at 4411 Montgomery Road in Norwood, is a residency program with 18 resident physicians in training, approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
"This relocation to University Station will allow us to continue to provide care to the immediate community, as well as offer our services to the Xavier campus," said Lorraine Stephens MD, program director for Bethesda Family Practice.
"Bethesda Family Medicine is excited to take this step in expanding the primary care services we offer to our patients and the community."
The location of the practices also will facilitate even stronger collaboration between TriHealth and Xavier University, helping build on existing relationships in primary care and sports medicine. TriHealth is the official health care provider for Xavier University and provides fan care at Cintas Center during all home athletic events.
"We're thrilled to see an extension of TriHealth in a way that will strongly benefit our neighbors in Evanston and Norwood," said Michael J. Graham S.J., president of Xavier University. "University Station is an exciting and important project that will enhance the lives of the entire Xavier community, including students, alumni, visitors and all those who live and work near our campus."
