TriHealth Bridge

Patients reap the benefits and physicians have more options when the GE MRI scanner software at Bethesda Arrow Springs undergoes an upgrade beginning Sept. 16.

The software upgrade and new coils will provide additional capabilities and enhanced views. This includes expanded site-specific views of abdomens (MRAs; abdomen to include liver, pancreas, kidney; MRCPs); fingers, toes, hands, elbows, tib/fib, humerus (small field of view); chests; and the female/male pelvis, to name a few.

An additional feature that will be available with the new system is the Cinemavision Goggle system. It enables patients to watch television or a DVD or listen to music during a scan, thus lessening anxiety and claustrophobia fears.

Three other locations - TriHealth Anderson, TriHealth Bethesda Butler Hospital and Good Samaritan Glenway - offer these goggles.

Arrow Springs will provide a demonstration of the goggle system in the Arrow Springs front lobby on the Ground Floor on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Staff, physicians and patients are invited to stop by to try them out and ask questions.

MRI Down for Conversion

Sept. 16 to Oct. 1, any MRIs necessary during the downtime should be referred to one of TriHealth’s other imaging locations through Scheduling, 513 569 6777 (Bethesda North Outpatient Imaging, Bethesda Butler Hospital, TriHealth Anderson, Good Samaritan Hospital, Good Samaritan Glenway). Patients will begin to be scheduled for MRIs at Arrow Springs again on Wednesday, Oct. 2.

Questions about the down time, new features, or goggle demos can be directed to Chassity Fender, MBA, RT (R)(N), Ambulatory Imaging Services manager, 513 309 9842.
