Each year, the Auxiliary of Bethesda Hospital awards college scholarships to Bethesda student volunteers and Auxiliary family members. Recently, the Auxiliary gave $6,000 in scholarships to four high school seniors and one current college student.
Salina Khanal, a Fairfield Senior High School student, held multiple roles at Bethesda Butler. From supporting staff in the ICU and the ER, to stocking carts, folding linens, and answering call lights, she has been a beacon of true determination, according to her supervisor. This fall she will attend Miami University of Ohio studying Biology, with a minor in Psychology. Her direct supervisor says that she will be outstanding in the medical field with her bright and outgoing personality!
Pranav Rastogi is currently pursuing his undergraduate degree at Duke University in Evolutionary Anthropology, specializing in Human Biology. Hoping to work in the medical field, he volunteered as a unit helper at Bethesda North to further his aspirations and to be a patient advocate and true caregiver. His supervisors know Pranav as an exceptional asset to any team.
Ella Schlick graduated from Mount Notre Dame High School and plans to attend Ohio University this fall. During her time at Bethesda, she volunteered over 240 hours from September 2022 to May 2024. Working at the Kenwood Infusion Center, the Thomas Center, and the Mom and Baby Unit at Bethesda North, she was a compassionate and essential part of each team. She plans to become a Clinical Psychologist, and her direct supervisors have no doubt that she will succeed at anything to which she puts her mind.
Ryan Zhang, a Sycamore High School graduate, will attend Johns Hopkins University where he plans to study neuroscience and pre-medicine. Ryan believes that medicine is where he belongs. After years of flying back and forth to China, he has witnessed huge medical care lapses in the community where his family is from. His determination to work in the field only grew while volunteering as a unit helper at Bethesda. With over 200 hours of service and after training other volunteers, Ryan is ready for anything life has for him!
Carly Littelmann, daughter of Auxiliary member Tracy Littelmann, has just graduated from Oak Hills High School, and plans to attend the University of Cincinnati this fall to study Health Sciences. Maintaining a 3.85 GPA, Carly was never one to do the bare minimum when it came to school or extracurricular activities. She knew that to reach her goals, she had to stand out, so Carly was a student leader at CancerFree Kids, held a Class Officer position on her Class Executive Board, and was a part of multiple Honor societies.
The Auxiliary congratulates each of these recipients and wishes them well in their college careers. To learn more about the Bethesda Auxiliary, visit https://www.bethesdafoundation.com/about-us. New members are always welcome to join!
