This year Ash Wednesday is celebrated on February 14. At TriHealth we look forward to Ash Wednesday, a day rooted in the faith traditions of our sponsors the Sisters of Charity and the Methodist Deaconesses, as a day of opportunity to stay grounded in our purpose and passion.
Ash Wednesday is one of the most popular and important holy days in the liturgical calendar. It marks the beginning of Lent, a 40-day season of penance, reflection, fasting, and ultimately celebration, which prepares believers for Christ's Resurrection on Easter Sunday, through which redemption is attained.

TriHealth Celebrates Ash Wednesday - 2024 Prayer Opportunities
Even though Ash Wednesday is not a day of obligation, TriHealth has traditionally provided Ash Wednesday services to give team members the opportunity to come together to reflect on their lives and observe their spiritual heritage. Below are locations and times of prayer opportunities this year.
Good Samaritan Hospital
- 7:00 a.m. Ecumenical Prayer Service with Ashes, Chapel 7th Floor
- 8:30 a.m. Catholic Mass with Ashes, Chapel 7th Floor
- 11:30 a.m. Ecumenical Prayer Service with Ashes, Chapel 7th Floor
- Rounding with Ashes for team members and patients – throughout morning and afternoon
Bethesda North Hospital
- 12:30 p.m. Catholic Mass with Ashes, Temporary Chapel 1st Floor
- 1:30 p.m. Ecumenical Prayer Service with Ashes, Temporary Chapel 1st Floor
- Rounding with Ashes for team members and patients – throughout morning and afternoon
Bethesda Butler Hospital
- 10:00 a.m. Ecumenical Service with Ashes, followed by rounding on team members
McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital
- 1:00 p.m. Ecumenical Service with Ashes, followed by rounding on team members
TriHealth Rehabilitation Hospital
- 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Rounding with Ashes for team members and patients
Western Ridge
- 8:30 a.m. Ecumenical Prayer Service with Ashes (room pending)
- Rounding with Ashes for team members and patients following prayer service until 9:30 a.m.
Arrow Springs
- 2:00 p.m. Rounding with Ashes for team members and patients (café area)
Norwood
- 11:30 a.m. Ecumenical Prayer Service with Ashes, Chapel/Reflection Room
- Rounding with Ashes for team members following prayer service until 12:30 p.m.
Baldwin
- 12:00 p.m. Ecumenical Prayer Service with Ashes, Chapel/Reflection Room 1st Floor
- Rounding with team members following prayer service
Hospice of Cincinnati
- Inpatient Units – Chaplains will be rounding with ashes throughout the day
- Administration Building – Ashes will be distributed in afternoon
