As part of TriHealth's monthlong celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEI+B) team are spotlighting Hispanic team members, physicians and community partners who will share their personal stories.
Alfonso Cornejo is president of the Hispanic Chamber of Cincinnati. Born and raised in Mexico, he is a business consultant who helps small companies do business in Latin America. He moved to Cincinnati with P&G more than 30 years ago before retiring in 2002. For the past 20 years, Mr. Cornejo has led the all-volunteer Hispanic Chamber.
"Being born and raised in Mexico, Hispanic Heritage Month is important to me and to all Hispanics living in the U.S. because it recognizes all of the achievements of the largest minority group in the country. Achievements that include, but are not limited to, business, art, culture, etc. Each story is different. My father was born in Mexico with Mexican-born parents. My mother was also born in Mexico, but her parents immigrated from Spain. These diverse stories contribute to the rich tapestry of cultures we celebrate during Hispanic Heritage Month and throughout the year.
As a large employer who is annually involved in many community events, TriHealth's presence in important to send a consistent, strong message of recognizing the importance of creating an inclusive culture that will in turn attract new employees and patients. TriHealth is involved in many Chamber events such as Cincy-Cinco, Salsa on the Square, Hispanic Volunteer Day, Annual Chamber Celebration and La Posada. Because of this, we look forward to our continued partnership with TriHealth in serving the Hispanic community."
