Recently, a dedication was held to launch the new Angel Suite in GSH’s Advanced Obstetrical Care Unit (AOCU). GSH President and COO Kelvin Hanger, Manager of Mission and Spiritual Care Services Tammy Jo Reiser, and Good Samaritan Foundation Officer Tori Monson all spoke during the event providing background information as to why the Angel Suite was installed and the vision for how it will further provide compassionate, human care for families during vulnerable circumstances.
The Angel Suite is a project that spans back to May 2022, when The Hayden & Crue Project reached out to Good Samaritan Foundation in hopes of bringing to life their vision of supporting families experiencing stillbirth. Following collaborative efforts between The Hayden & Crue Project, the foundation, hospital administration, and the AOCU, the suite has been brought to fruition.
This Angel Suite provides a physical environment for families to be away from the noise, from the celebrations, and from the triggers of a “normal” delivery and postpartum recovery unit, where they can have intentional, one-on-one time with their little one.
This suite differs from a typical postpartum or delivery room because all the medical monitors can be hidden away by cabinetry, making it seem the least bit hospital-like as possible. Additionally, a very special piece to the room is the Caring Cradle, which preserves the baby for up to 72 hours. There is also a sleeper sofa for mom’s support person, a rocking chair and ottoman, and a changing table so that parents can experience those “firsts” with their baby before saying goodbye. The room is outfitted with hand-knitted baby blankets/hats, an adult-sized blanket, hand and foot molds, sibling bracelets, books, journals, baby outfits, and swaddles.
This Angel Suite is furthering Good Sam’s dedication to providing the highest level of compassionate care for all those we serve.
Some of the suite’s donors were also in attendance for the dedication: The Hayden & Crue Project’s Tony and Nicole Campbell and Wayne and Kelsey Hambrick, and Ali and Bridgett Teepe. The Wainscott family also provided funding to bring the Angel Suite to life.

As a new father I can't imagine the heartbreaking time this could be. I am happy to see GSH taking some steps to make it easier! Good Job!

This is simply beautiful so considerate of the parents and allowing them the privacy needed during that critical time.

A friend's daughter is currently going through this. I'm not sure if she is able to use this room but I think this is such a great comfort to those who can.
What a great addition to the already great care offered by our AOCU.

This is absolutely beautiful! As someone who has experienced stillborn loss in our family, this would have been so comforting, and although nothing can bring baby back, it's nice to be able to still have those "firsts" and be able to spend that extra special time with baby <3 This is/was a perfectly executed plan!!! I love it!
