Following a thorough and highly collaborative search and selection process involving system and hospital leaders, physicians and team members, Clint Hutson, MD, has been selected to serve as the next President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Bethesda North Hospital.
Dr. Hutson will assume this new role on Monday, June 19, 2023. He will continue to serve as Associate Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for the Good Samaritan Region over the coming weeks as he transitions to this new role.
Dr. Hutson was among a number of exceptional internal candidates considered for this critical hospital leadership role. Each of these candidates brought their own unique strengths, proven leadership background, an understanding of our values and culture, and a strong commitment to the TriHealth Way of Leading, Serving and Delivering Care. Following completion of intensive, in-depth interviews with more than 50 TriHealth physician leaders, senior leaders, team members and hospital and service line leaders, Dr. Hutson emerged as the clear choice to lead Bethesda North Hospital.
Since joining TriHealth as a hospitalist at Bethesda North Hospital in 2006, Dr. Hutson has excelled in progressively more responsible clinical and administrative leadership roles at the hospital and system levels. From 2016 to 2021, he led the start-up of TriHealth’s hospitalist service at Dearborn Community Hospital and later assumed leadership of Good Sam’s hospitalist program. And in 2021, Dr. Hutson was appointed Associate CMO for the Good Samaritan Region with expanded responsibility for advancing the clinical agenda for the Good Sam Region and the system. In collaboration with Dr. Helen Koselka, System Chief Medical Officer, and Dr. Thomas Shockley, Jr., Associate CMO for the Bethesda North Region, he has helped lead critical quality, safety and population health initiatives for the system, hospitals, and ambulatory sites of care, all in the name of Getting Healthcare Right for the patients and communities we serve!
Prior to assuming his Associate CMO role, Dr. Hutson held a number of hospital-based leadership roles, including as Good Samaritan Regional Hospital Medicine Director, Chair of the Department of Inpatient Medicine and Chair of the Department of Medicine at Good Samaritan Hospital. He has served as a physician leader on a number of committees including the Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Executive Committee and TPP Care Retention Committee.
The process for selecting Dr. Hutson’s replacement as the Associate CMO for the Good Samaritan Region will soon begin, led by Dr. Koselka. With a talented and deep “bench” of highly qualified and proven physician leaders at TriHealth, we will look internally to fill this important leadership position.
