Hi Team –

Happy Valentine’s Day! I hope you are taking time today to express your love and appreciation to all the special people in your life. I also hope you are feeling the love of those who are grateful for you – at home and here at TriHealth, including your TriHealth family and the hundreds of thousands of patients we care for across our Greater Cincinnati Community!

Getting Healthcare Right
TriHealth Facilities Update – Delivering the Right Care in the Right Place Across Our Growing High-Value Network of Hospitals, Ambulatory Campuses, and Service Lines
Central to our work of Getting Healthcare Right is ensuring every patient we serve has convenient and equitable access to the highest quality clinical care when and where they need it most – for every stage of life and every state of health. To bring this commitment to life, in recent years we have made significant investments – and are making important strides – to expand our regional network of world-class in- and outpatient facilities and clinical service lines. The following is a brief update on recent progress:

  • Finneytown Ambulatory Campus: Our 13th comprehensive ambulatory care campus is on track to open this summer in Finneytown! For years, Finneytown and its surrounding communities have been underserved with limited access to high-quality healthcare options close to home, making it difficult to receive timely, regular, and convenient care. The new 58,000 sq. ft. campus will become the new home to four existing TriHealth physician practices, as well as a full range of clinical services, including TriHealth Priority Care, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, General Surgery, ENT, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R), Orthopedics, Obstetrics, Radiology, Lab, Priority/Urgent Care and more! • Bethesda North 300 Tower 8th Floor: As part of our Bethesda North Campus Modernization and Heart Hospital Plan, progress continues on the construction of the 300 Tower’s new eighth floor, which is scheduled for completion by Spring 2024. Roofing, electrical work, and plumbing, along with a host of other construction projects, are currently in process. When finished, the new state-of-the-art inpatient floor will provide larger, more modern rooms to support a significantly enhanced care experience for patients and their visitors. This will allow for the “decommissioning” of smaller, obsolete patient rooms.
  • Good Sam Campus Modernization Project: If you’ve been on the Good Sam campus lately, it would be hard to miss the latest sign of real progress with our campus modernization project – the massive crane on the site of our planned new team member parking garage! Scheduled for completion by the end of calendar year 2023, this brand-new, five-story parking garage will feature 700+ team member parking spaces, two entrances and two exits to different levels, electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, and space for oversized vehicles on all floors! And following the completion and relocation of the team member garage, work will begin on the site of the old garage to construct the South Tower – a major new six-story building that will be the centerpiece of our five-year, $240M investment to transform the Good Sam campus into a comprehensive medical hub of the future! The hub will bring together many of Good Sam’s “destination” Centers of Excellence, including the Cancer Institute, Women’s Health Institute, Neuroscience Institute, and Heart Institute in one convenient location. And this will allow for us to “reimagine” and enhance delivery of all of our outpatient services, including Infusion, Medical Oncology, Precision Medicine, Bone Marrow Transplant and Cellular Therapy, Mammography, Imaging, Cardiac Testing, Pulmonary Rehab and Function Testing and Women’s Health. The new facility will also house the relocated and expanded Emergency Department, Radiology, Labs, and other departments.
  • Good Samaritan Glenway Ambulatory Campus: Exciting progress also continues on the modernization and expansion of the Glenway Outpatient Center, with the goal of enhancing clinical collaboration and seamless care, improving wayfinding and the patient experience, and increasing clinical space to expand our on-site practices and support new providers. Fourth-floor renovations were recently completed, allowing our Queen City Pediatrics and TPP Family Medicine practices to move into their new spaces. Renovations to the sleep labs are expected to be completed by this summer and third-floor renovations now underway are targeted for completion by the end of this calendar year.
These important investments in our regional network of hospitals, ambulatory campuses and clinical service lines are made possible by our continued strong pillar performance and the hard work and collaboration of our TriHealth clinical, administrative, and operational teams. A BIG thank you to all who are making this progress possible – all to help Get Healthcare Right for every patient we serve, everywhere and always! Brandon Ballhaus Appointed Good Sam Vice President of Hospital Operations
As the latest example of our commitment to “grow our talent” and promote from within, I am excited to announce that Brandon Ballhaus, BSN, RN, CNOR will take on the new role of Vice President of Hospital Operations for Good Samaritan Hospital. He succeeds Patrick Wright, who was appointed Vice President of Population Health last August.

A graduate of Good Samaritan College of Nursing and Health Science, Brandon has held progressively more responsible leadership roles across TriHealth since joining us in 2012. He has a passion for people and process improvement, which led to a recent Pillar Award for his teams’ accomplishments. Most recently, he served as Good Sam’s Director of Perioperative Services, where he spearheaded the creation of the Good Samaritan Outpatient Center (GSOC) and was a Sub-Investigator in the Power of Positivity manuscript, which was featured in the American Nurse Journal.

As Vice President of Hospital Operations for Good Sam, Brandon will work closely with Good Sam President, Kelvin Hanger, to help lead day-to-day operations and support essential clinical program and facility development on the Good Sam campus. Please join me in congratulating Brandon on this well-deserved promotion – another shining example of our commitment to, and success with, developing and growing the talents and careers of our own TriHealth Team!!

Black History Month
TriHealth’s celebration of Black History Month is in full swing with many fun and inspiring opportunities to learn more about the significant contributions of African Americans in healthcare, including here at TriHealth. Over the next week, be sure to sign up to participate in the following in-depth discussions with a panel of our own TriHealth physicians and learn about how TriHealth is working to reduce and ultimately eliminate health disparities throughout our community:
  • Thursday, February 16, 3-4pm at Bethesda North Hospital: Physician Panel Discussion with Dr. Shayla Pullen (Sleep Medicine), Dr. Keith Wilson (Otolaryngology) and Dr. Victoria Richburg-Stephen (Pediatrics)
  • Tuesday, February 21, 3-4pm at Good Sam Hospital: Physician Panel Discussion with Dr. Roosevelt Walker (OB/GYN), Dr. William Buckley (OB/GYN), Dr. Anthereca Lane (OB/GYN), Dr. Kirubel Tefera (Hematology) and Dr. Kayla Smith (Plastic Surgery)
During these discussions, the physician panel will answer questions related to their field, provide insights and tools to improve the overall health of the population we serve, and share their thoughts on how we can foster health equity throughout the organization and communities we serve. Click here to reserve your spot, limited seats available.

And next week, don’t miss your chance to participate in an interactive book club discussion about “Dear White Friend,” a powerful and insightful book written by local business leader Dr. Melvin Gravely. The book explores the realities of race and the power of relationships, with a focus on what the path to equity looks like. Sessions will be held at Bethesda North, Good Sam, and TriHealth Norwood. Visit Bridge for details on how to receive a copy of the book and participate in the book club discussion.

COVID Update
WOW! We continue to see an “unseasonably” encouraging decline in COVID case rates – both at TriHealth and across the region, providing further evidence we may be through the worst of the winter peak in virus transmission (see latest COVID stats to right for details). Considering we’re only halfway through February, this is a welcome sign for our hospitals, our caregivers, and our community! Let’s keep our fingers crossed that the trend continues downward in the weeks ahead!!

Mark Your Calendar: February Team Member Town Hall, February 21
It’s hard to believe, but our second Team Member Town Hall of 2023 is right around the corner! Please join us next Tuesday, February 21 from 12-1 pm on Bridge for our livestreamed February session. As always, we will celebrate system wins and review the latest progress in our work to Get Healthcare Right. And, of course, we’ll provide ample time to answer your questions, with some really cool TriHealth prizes available to those who join the conversation!

Thank you for everything you do to help make TriHealth GREAT – for our patients, our community, and each other!
