In 2020, the Michael and Mary Jo Hornsby Family Foundation generously donated money to purchase eight new Kangaroo Chairs for Good Samaritan Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Recently, the family learned that the NICU was in need of an additional 15 chairs in order to be able to provide each family with a kangaroo chair at the bedside.
On June 9, 2022, Maurie Hornsby generously presented a check on behalf of the Michael and Mary Jo Hornsby Family Foundation in the amount of $60,000 to the Good Samaritan Foundation so that all the chairs could be purchased for the NICU.
The Kangaroo Chair is a comfortable rocker-recliner that can accompany each incubator and provide comfort, support, and safety for both mother and newborn in the NICU. The chair embraces the parent, allowing them to focus on the nurturing of their child, while also providing relaxation. The chair locks in all of its reclined positions, so there is no sudden movement that would be startling and potentially dangerous. Its wide back creates an absolute sense of safety and comfort while also offering support as mother and baby turn from side to side.
Thank you to the Hornsby family for their continued investment in Good Samaritan and the families served by the NICU team!
