Bethesda North and Good Samaritan Hospitals have been recognized again by The Joint Commission (TJC) for providing the most advanced and state of the art diabetic care to patients!
Established in 2006 and awarded for a two-year period, The Joint Commission’s Advanced Certification in Inpatient Diabetes Care is based on the American Diabetes Association’s Clinical Practice Recommendations and addresses standards related to:
- Staff education requirements,
- Written blood glucose monitoring protocols,
- Plans for the treatment of hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia,
- Data collection of incidences of hypoglycemia,
- Patient education on self-management of diabetes, and
- An identified program champion or program champion team.
Experts from TJC assessed inpatient diabetes-specific care and measured clinical practice performance in recent surveys. TJC’s Advanced Inpatient Diabetes Certification is awarded to a clinical program of excellence with improved processes of care, the ability to create an environment of teamwork, and heightened communication within the organization.
This certification is reflective of the consistency of care for patients with diabetes and will assure our patients that when they choose TriHealth, their diagnosis of diabetes is not forgotten. Additionally, it is a validation from an outside party of TriHealth’s continuous improvement efforts as a place of innovation and excellence in delivering high quality patient care.
“With one-quarter of TriHealth inpatients affected by comorbidities of diabetes, this certification is proof of our commitment to provide the very best evidenced-based diabetes care and education,” said Elissa Pleshinger, Advanced Practice Nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital. “Every team member at Good Sam and Bethesda North shares in this success!”
Congratulations to the teams at Bethesda North and Good Samaritan Hospitals!
