May is Stroke Awareness Month. Stroke is the 5th top cause of death and a leading cause of disability in the United States. According to the CDC, about 80% of these strokes are preventable. A stroke, also known as a “brain attack”, can be caused by either a clot obstructing the flow of blood to the brain or by a blood vessel rupturing and preventing blood flow to the brain. In the event of having a stroke, early recognition and treatment are critical in improving outcomes and reducing disability.

Please join TriHealth team members during the month of May at Good Samaritan, Bethesda North, Bethesda Butler and McCullough Hyde hospitals, by the cafeterias, to learn more about stroke prevention, recognition, and treatment for stroke patients. If you stop by between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday throughout the month, you can enter to win Cincinnati Reds baseball game tickets for the Strike Out Stroke game, scheduled for June 17, 2022, and sponsored by the Greater Cincinnati Stroke Consortium.
