Following a highly collaborative search and selection process involving board members, leaders, physicians and team members, Helen Koselka, MD, has been selected to serve as TriHealth’s next Chief Medical Officer (CMO). Dr. Koselka was the unanimous choice among everyone involved in the selection — literally 100% of the nearly 50 individuals who participated in the interview process!
Having worked with TriHealth for the past 26 years, Dr. Koselka is a shining example of TriHealth’s commitment to grow our people and, whenever possible, promote from within at all levels. With many strong physician leaders like Dr. Koselka in our system, we focused our selection process on internal candidates — candidates who know and embrace our culture and our commitment to the TriHealth Way of Leading, Serving and Safely Delivering Care. This approach provided us with the best opportunity to select a System CMO who is known and respected and already invested in our journey from Good to Great. Dr. Koselka is just that leader, as she is widely recognized as a servant leader and teacher, an innovator, an active clinician, and a builder of bridges between groups.
Dr. Koselka has served as interim CMO since July. The Chief Medical Officer is among the most important leadership roles within our system. The System CMO collaborates with our physician community, physician and senior leaders, and frontline caregivers to guide our work and clinical agenda focused on Getting Healthcare Right – better care, better health and better value – to achieve our ultimate goal of exceptional clinical quality, Zero Harm and improved health of our community.
Dr. Koselka previously served as Regional Chief Medical Officer for the Good Samaritan Region, overseeing the safety and quality of TriHealth’s Good Samaritan sites since 2017. She came to TriHealth in 1995 as the Director of Ambulatory Education for the Internal Medicine Residency and later became the Residency Program Director, Internal Medicine Department Chair and Good Samaritan Hospital Executive Medical Director.
The process will soon begin to seek her replacement as the Regional CMO for the Good Samaritan Region, while at the same time finding the right successor for David Kirkpatrick, MD, Regional CMO for the Bethesda North Region, who previously announced his planned end-of-the-year retirement.
Please join in congratulating Dr. Koselka and wishing her all the best as she takes on this crucial system leadership role for TriHealth in support of our efforts to get healthcare right for all those we serve!
Congrats!!
