Very exciting news for HeartCode end users! Effective January 25, 2021, TriHealth (including MHMH) will be live with the new version of HeartCode Complete and all HeartCode skills labs will reopen.
Team members who were due to renew their Basic Life Support (BLS) certification in December and January for their “birth month renewal” and new hires from December and January who need to renew BLS will have access to assignments on January 25 in Learn. The online module must be completed before going to the skills lab. In the HeartCode skills lab all hands-on skills will be completed. You will have 30 days to complete the assignment with an additional 30-day grace period. Other team member assignments will be made according to the birth month/every other year method previously used. Please note: new team members may be assigned prior to their recommended renewal date to get on track with the birth month renewal process at TriHealth and prevent a lapse in certification.
Any team member who had a past due assignment from the previous HeartCode program will find the acknowledgment in their Learn account on January 25 to be signed. This is for the purchase of a new HeartCode Complete license (cost is still $40) that will be assigned within two business days with a maximum of 30 days to complete. It is strongly recommended that this assignment be completed as soon as possible because the team member is beyond the AHA recommended renewal date for their BLS renewal.
Transitioning to this new version of HeartCode Complete has benefits:
- All new skills lab equipment and computers for hands on skills
- Adaptive online learning module, paced according to the knowledge demonstrated by individual learners
- Computer program simulates the second rescuer when performing hands on skills for cycled CPR
- Learners complete the program on their own schedule and pace
- Resuscitation education is evidence-based, allows end users to develop and practice critical thinking and decision-making skills
- Program is based on science and research by the AHA association and consistent for all users to ensure high-quality CPR competence
- HeartCode complete program is saving TriHealth more than $86,000 in the first 3-year contract
Team members with physical limitations that would require assistance in completing the hands-on skills can sign up for a session in Learn. You can find the session by searching HeartCode in the catalog.
