TriHealth Bridge

March 09, 2020

TriHealth is leading the way as the first healthcare system in the Midwest to deploy the “Interpreters” app on system-wide Voalte One iPhones.

Starting March 14, 2020, you will always have an interpreter at your fingertips. The “Interpreters” app currently used on the Interpreter on Wheels (IOW) will be available on all TriHealth Voalte One iPhones.  You will never have to miss an opportunity to do our sacred work due to a language barrier.

What’s different?

The “Interpreters” app on Voalte One iPhones doesn’t replace the Interpreter on Wheels. Instead it offers you a solution for on-the-spot interpreting needs, such as escorting lost patients who have language barriers. The chart below will help you identify the best way to use this technology.

Voalte One iPhone

Interpreter on Wheels

Advantages

  • On-demand access to phone or video interpreters
  • Highly mobile (in pocket)
  • Thousands of Voalte One iPhones
  • Ideal when an in-person interpreter or Interpreter on Wheels is not available
  • On-demand access to phone or video interpreters
  • Easy transport (on wheels)
  • Larger iPad screen
  • Stand alone; no need to hold
  • Medical grade power cord

Disadvantages

  • Incoming Voalte One calls will interrupt interpreting calls (may have to hang up & re-start interpreting session)
  • Not ideal for long conversations due to the small screen size and holding the phone
  • Screen size is not ideal for accessing American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreters
